Nsight Telservices to work on Broadband Upgrades in Oneida

E-mail Print PDF

Green Bay, WI – With today’s announcement by the U.S. Commerce Secretary Dennis Hightower and Governor Jim Doyle that a $28 million grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act would go to increase access to high-speed Internet in Wisconsin, Nsight Telservices is excited be a part of several projects. Nsight Telservices will be using a portion of the funding to expand broadband locally at the Oneida Community Library and the Oneida Nations School.

Access Wisconsin was contracted to do much of the expansion and, as members of this consortium Nsight Telservices will expand the state’s BadgerNet service in these locations by installing fiber and providing their Internet connection.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to work on this project,” said Roger Hermsen, Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of Fixed Operations at Nsight. “This will allow these schools to expand their learning opportunities and with the work being done locally it will also give a boost to the area economy.”

“Nsight Telservices has covered the Pulaski area and school district with broadband for many years. Our goal has always been to reach out to the rural areas in northeast Wisconsin and provide them the best service that we are capable,” said Hermsen. “We’ve had much success in doing this already and the federal stimulus will allow us to continue in that mission and enhance service for those who need it most.”

Work at both locations is projected to begin as early as mid-summer.
