Menominee County recently distributed 1100 seedlings to tribal members and Menominee county residents, who were given the opportunity to take up to 25 trees each to plant on their land. The seedlings were donated by Cellcom after an Earth Day promotion.
“We had a three-hour block set aside to giveaway the trees,” said Jeremy Johnson, Menominee County Conservationist, “The event went over very well, and we gave away all the seedlings that were available.”
Cellcom also donated 100 trees to be planted on various county and tribal lands, including a community garden that the Tribe maintains.
Cellcom donated trees for every new line activation or qualified upgrade during the promotional period. A tree was also donated for every customer who signed up for paperless billing.
“We’re committed to reducing our environmental impacts and support a number of efforts year round within the community,” said Dan Fabry, COO of Mobile Services at Cellcom. “This promotion is another step we took as a company to live up to our commitments.”
Over 9400 trees were donated to communities throughout Cellcom’s service area.
