Sturgeon Bay, WI (June 6, 2011) – Arlene Stanger will be displaying her photography at Glas Coffeehouse through the month of June. Stanger, a retired microbiologist residing in Baileys Harber, has been interested in photography for over 35 years when she had the opportunity to learn black and white darkroom development.
“Courses I took at the Peninsula School of Art introduced me to new ways of expressing myself and new techniques, like Polaroid image and emulsion transfers,” said Stanger. “My most recent class utilized a thorwback in photographic equipment, the Holga camera. The inexpensive plastic camera with a fixed plastic lens was used to create the exhibit being shown at Glas.”
One of Stanger’s Holga photographs, entitled Old Growth, was selected for the 2010 Photo Midwest Seven State Juried Exhibit in Madison.
Glas showcases the work of a new artist each month and is currently seeking artists for 2012. Those interested can email Tammy Homan, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , with photos of their work.
